After a solid couple weeks of daily meltdowns (not even exaggerating 🙃) while editing my book I decided to go for a long walk this afternoon and buy myself flowers!! 💐 I had thought the bulk of the work was done when I submitted the first draft but no sweet child, there are about a dozen round of edits and the feedback all comes to you via silently devastating emails and you end up sitting in a room having endless imaginary conversations in your own head defending the emotional significance of a comma. I thought I might actually lose my mind the other day when my laptop froze and shut down, casually erasing an entire day’s worth of edits (I’m sorry to my neighbours for the murderous screams). Then today I took a break and got some flowers and I feel soooo much better and ready to get on with work and I remembered how much I need moments of beauty in my day to function and be creative. So if anyone else out there is having a crazy moment trying to smother the creative spark from your exhausted little bod, remember that you’re a complex human being, not a machine and you deserve flowers 💕🌸🌻🌺 | Posted on 22/Jul/2021 20:17:21
