Eyeball Earths 👁 Imagine an alien planet with a circular ocean on one side, like a glistening watery iris staring into space. Scientists theorize there could be billions of these “Eyeball Earths” out there. In the right conditions, some planets become “tidally locked” to their star, causing one half of the planet to permanently face the sun. Some of these planets will orbit in a Goldilocks zone, causing a warm water ocean to form on the sun-facing side, resulting in a planet that resembles a human eye. Other tidally locked planets closer to their star may form oceans on the night-facing side, forming oceans that stare into the darkness of space. 40 light years away, the planet Trappist 1-F is a candidate for such a planet. With the recent launch of the James Webb Space Telescope, we are one step closer to discovering mythical worlds like these, bringing them from the realms of imagination into reality. When does a machine become an artist? Excited to announce BINARY DREAMS: an experimental new short film exploring how artificial intelligence sees the cosmos. I’m convinced that A.I. will forever change the way we produce and consume art, and this film is my pioneering exploration of how this new tool can be used to unlock new artistic possibilities. BINARY DREAMS drops later this month. Progress is also continuing on Sights of Space, as well as a number of other secret projects that I am excited to share with you all. The Sights of Space has a new release date: November 29th. I originally aimed for a late summer release, but several factors have delayed production, and I’ve also decided to expand the scope of the film. Don’t think I’ve ever missed a target release date, so it’s a hard call to make, but this adventure needs more time in the oven. Plus these things should never be rushed. In the meantime enjoy this little sneak peek. The wait will be worth it, I promise.
