Dear Jodie, On this most special of mothers days I want to thank you for the being the light that you are. For the the passion with which you threw yourself into nurturing and protecting our child when she was in your womb. For the dedication and will you showed bringing her into the world. I have never witnessed a more powerful being than you through those moments. Thank you for the depth of grace you have found since our daughter has arrived. The commitment that you make look so effortless but I know is anything but. Thank you for making me a father. For trusting me enough to embark on this journey together. I am humbled more and more every day by that. I love you. I love seeing you enter the pantheon of mothers. And I look forward to walking this path by your side as we nurture this little engine of joy you have blessed the world with.

This decision is not shameful. It is not a mistake. Or even a miscarriage of ‘justice’. It is a proclamation. It is a clear statement of the values held by the Kentucky Attorney Generals’ office. A declaration of their the beliefs about whose life matters. About who is truly held accountable, who is held responsible and for whom the protective hand of ‘justice’ is extended. My heart goes out to Breonnas loved ones. Nothing will ever make whole what was taken from them on March 13. May her name forever remain a blessing. A righteous declaration of our shared humanity. A call to action. And may these men who saw her life as disposable be forever tortured by her memory. I sincerely hope they are haunted every minute of their remaining days. I love my hometown. The place that made me. It’s in my blood. It’s shaped the way I think. The way I act, hell its even in my social media handle (TM sometime before @vancityreynolds). I’m always proud to be a Vancouverite. And even I’m surprised by us sometimes. This is a video of the entire downtown cheering the evening shift change at the hospitals. Thank you to all of those of you at the front lines. Drs. Nurses. And the grocery stores. Pharmacies. Supply chains. Truckers. Fast food workers everybody putting themselves at risk to help their fellow citizens through this pandemic. Not just in vancity but everywhere on the planet.
