What I remember most about your run to the title at the Australian Open 2007, was the fact that the only person who never doubted you could win the title, was you. Ranked #81 in the world, you decided that losing wasn’t an option. Tennis needed to remember that you were it’s greatest champion. And from 3-5 down in the second set to Petrova in the third round, you never looked back. When you crushed World Number 1 Sharapova, the world was shocked, but you weren’t. You knew it would happen. You always did. Your belief in yourself never wavered, and you made it your mission to prove every doubter wrong, so you did just that.
I have striven to use that mentality in my daily life, as an actor, director, writer and as a human. People have doubted me from day one, but I never did. I know what I am capable of, and I have never settled for less than my best. And I learned that from you. You can only do your best, and your best is pretty damn spectacular.
