Allie Gonino Instagram – It was a full dream to attend the Venice Film Festival, and the premiere of Andrea Pallaoro’s gorgeous film, ‘Monica’. Beautifully captured by @katearizmendi, starring @tracelysette, Patricia Clarkson, @emily.c.browning, @jclosefaction, and @adrianabarrazaoficial, ‘Monica’ creates a deeply intimate experience between viewer and protagonist. The story is told through the lens of a trans woman, played by Lysette, whose dying mother doesn’t even recognize her. Universal themes such as abandonment, identity, sexuality, loneliness, and loss are explored in this timely and sensitive film. An achievement by all the artists and producers involved, and I hope this film will create more empathy for those in the trans community, those who struggle to connect authentically with their families, and those who don’t feel safe enough to vocalize their truth. | Posted on 08/Sep/2022 01:33:56
