Juliana Dever Instagram – “Please take our message of love and peace and please tell people that we have something worth saving” Luarsab, our host for my Georgia 🇬🇪 tour closing night dinner said these words to us and it struck me to my core.

At the heart of all travel is connection.
.
Sometimes it’s to yourself.
.
Sometimes it’s to nature, or terroir.
.
But often for me, it’s to people. For in connecting with others, we really do meet ourselves.
.
When we take those journeys and learn from someone else’s culture, we carry their stories with us, back to others, and ultimately strengthen each other.
.
Especially in the shadow of neighbors who seek to swallow up and mute what makes a people distinct and unique, travel is more important than ever.
.
When I hear Luarsab ask “who will tell our story?” I realize it’s in these moments we travelers experience, the meals we share, the songs we hear, the landscape we take in…we do.
.
We are the stewards of these experiences, the emissaries who return home to tell others that a beautiful land like Georgia is worth preserving, worth protecting, worth fighting for.
