I have so many thoughts about PAPER GIRLS not being renewed, but they were already more eloquently expressed by our supernaturally talented stars @camrynajones, @finastrazza, @rileylainelet and @sofiarosinsky, all of whom are going to have long and extraordinary careers I can’t wait to follow. For now, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who worked so hard on this beautiful series, an adaptee’s dream. I guess not a lot of people watched our show, but it was a show that meant a lot to the people who did, which makes it a massive success in my book. If you’re curious how the girls’ story might have ended, you can at least see how @cliffchiang, @colornmatt, Jared Fletcher and I wrapped things up in PAPER GIRLS: THE COMPLETE STORY from our good friends at @imagecomics (preferably via your local comic shop!). As for me, I’m going to do what I always do when something in my life ends: get to work making more new comics. Thanks again to everyone for the very kind words, and I’ll see you in the funny pages.
Everywhere October 5 (except a screen near you), it’s SAGA Volume 10! Thanks so much for your patience, and stay tuned for your first look at our next “season” with January’s Chapter Sixty-one. @fionastaples remains the absolute best there is at what she does, so I can’t wait for you to see what niceness she’s been cooking up. For now, thanks again for supporting your local comic shop next Wednesday! #saga #imagecomics #graphicnovelart
Wednesday! Our next collection will be out October 5, but you can avoid spoilers and pick up all six chapters of this harrowing storyline at your local comic shop this week. @fionastaples is creating some of the most beautiful artwork I’ve ever seen in my life, and it remains an absurd privilege to get to tell this story with her. Thanks to our friends at @imagecomics for still being the best publisher on the planet, and thank YOU for still reading. #saga #imagecomics #fionastaples #independence
NOW STREAMING?! Our friends at @primevideo have apparently dropped all eight episodes of PAPER GIRLS a day early for you fine folks, so you can watch it right now, just about anywhere in the world! And after you finish your binge, please hit the link in my bio to find out how to win this special prize pack, containing a poster signed by creator @cliffchiang and all four Paper Girls (with a badass collector’s tube to keep it safe!), a very special 12-pack of Paper Girls pencils designed by Cliff and manufactured by legendary art supplier @blackwing, four rare pins created for SDCC, a coveted slap bracelet (!), and even this delectable cassette-cookie (still fresh!) baked by Sugar Babies exclusively for our first screening. Oh, and a canvas Cleveland Preserver tote bag I totally forgot to include in this pic! Anyway, thanks so much for watching, and I hope you love this series as much as I do.
Part of your complete breakfast. Any of my fellow nerds at LAX’s Terminal 5 this morning? If so, find my bald head and you can have this copy of SAGA vol 10. Otherwise, one will be waiting for you at your local comic/book shop TODAY. Thanks for reading, pals! #saga #imagecomics #daydrinking
Time flies by…literally. Paper Girls is coming to @primevideo on July 29th.
[Video Description: 40 seconds. Teaser trailer of “Paper Girls”, an Amazon original series premiering July 29th. Various scenes of Erin, Tiff, KJ, and Mac traveling through time. After meeting Erin’s future self, scenes show the girls trying to get back to their current year, 1988. End title card reads “Prime Video included with Prime.”]
WHAT?! Who eats at Sbarro while in New York City?? Also, seeing @cliffchiang artwork on a six-story billboard is pretty damn cool. Thanks, @amazonbooks, and after you binge-read our massive collection, don’t forget to watch the first season of Paper Girls this Friday. Plenty of huge surprises in store for you, even if you’ve devoured every issue of our series.
Okay, this is the definition of weird, so please stick with me. Growing up, @alfredyankovic could not have been a bigger inspiration. I saw “UHF” in the theaters three times (“Spatula City” is one of the most perfect pieces of comedy ever), and the “Off the Deep End” tour was one of my first (and to this day, greatest) live concert experiences. Despite Al’s importance in my upbringing, I don’t think I ever name-checked him in any of my comics’ many dopey pop-culture references. Nevertheless, cut to 2020, when the tv adaptations of both Y: THE LAST MAN and PAPER GIRLS were deep in development with two completely different sets of writers for two completely different networks, and yet, on the exact same day, I received first drafts in my inbox for different episodes of Y and Paper Girls, and was beyond floored to discover that they improbably both shared the exact same title: “WEIRD AL IS DEAD” (which has very different meanings in each series). I immediately reached out to all showrunners involved, who were a) appropriately blown away by this cosmic coincidence, and b) in agreement that both shows should keep this title, which they each somehow arrived at completely independently. But I want to make it very clear that everyone involved in these series is extremely grateful that Mr. Yankovic is decidedly NOT DEAD, and I pray that he’ll accept this admittedly morbid double tribute as a testament to his cultural immortality and undying influence on multiple generations of diverse creators. I love you, Al, and I can’t wait to see your upcoming biopic, which I sincerely hope doesn’t end with you and/or your accordion in a casket. #WEIRDTheAlYankovicStory #PaperGirls #YLivesOn
200 years in the future, a voyeuristic ghost from our present meets a mysterious ghost from the past. Then something happens. It’s an extremely graphic new graphic novel called SPECTATORS with beautiful art from @niko_henrichon and elegant letters from SAGA’s Fonografiks. We post new pages every single Monday (even Labor Day) to the link in my bio, and you mature readers can read the first 80-plus pages for FREE right now. Thanks for letting me plug! How’ve you been…?
No beer this morning, just a serviceable B.E.C. at JFK’s Terminal 5 after a wonderful few days with friends, family and collaborators in NYC. Sorry I wasn’t able to stop by New York Comic Con, but I hope to be back to this neck of the woods soon. For now, thanks so much to everyone for giving SAGA Volume 10 such a great launch last week. Sounds like some online retailers are having trouble keeping up with demand, so if you want a copy today, please support your well-stocked local comic shop. And if you can’t find me at the airport this morning, I’ll also be giving away another signed copy at the link in my bio. Thanks. I like you. How was your weekend? #saga #imagecomics #bec
Fellow PAPER GIRLS creator and Executive Producer @cliffchiang and I were lucky enough to attend SDCC with stars and absolute A+ human beings @camrynajones (Tiffany), @rileylainelet (Erin), @finastrazza (KJ), and @sofiarosinsky (Mac). If you caught our panel, you got a small taste of how otherworldly talented all four of these performers are. And like the heroes of our story, these young women are all badass professionals, wise beyond their years, who have been thrust into an often terrifying and adult world of seemingly endless conflict (television, not a time war), and nevertheless meet every challenge with grace, humor, and most importantly, friendship. I’m so grateful for the beautiful work of all of the actors, writers and crew behind this outstanding series, and I’m excited for you to see all eight episodes of our first season THIS FRIDAY, July 29, exclusively on @primevideo. Thanks, and you can check out more behind-the-scenes pics at the link in my bio. #papergirls #primevideo #imagecomics #beamingwithpride
My cool niece is visiting, and wanted to remind everyone that if you’d like to read PAPER GIRLS before our series begins on @primevideo this Friday, you can pick up these rad hardcover editions at your favorite local comic shop today! #papergirls #imagecomics #supportyourlcs
All caught up with PAPER GIRLS and SAGA? I hope you “mature readers” out there will check out SPECTATORS, an extremely graphic new serialized story with the amazing @niko_henrichon, about a ghost from 2022 haunting our crazy future. Link in bio, and 100% free to read, thanks!
If Dad said it, it must be true. Watch #papergirls on @PrimeVideo
[Image description: Writer and co-creator of “Paper Girls” Brian K. Vaughan is seated at a signing table with Paper Girls prints and markers. The text on the image reads “This isn’t a love letter to the 80s–it’s a DEATH THREAT.“-Brian K. Vaughan.” The words “Love Letter” and “DEATH THREAT” are highlighted in a bright yellow and pink pixel graphic script. The image is stylized with a dotted pattern, resembling comic book art. Text on the bottom reads “Prime Video” “Paper Girls”]

Our filthy serialized graphic novel SPECTATORS isn’t for everyone, but maybe it’s for you? Gorgeous new @niko_henrichon artwork every Monday at the link in my bio, thanks. How are you? I’m supposed to be writing, but fell into that Guardians game…
What the hell are they looking at? From the incredible @niko_henrichon and SAGA letterer Fonografiks, SPECTATORS is a serialized graphic novel I’m really proud to be a part of. We hope there will be a print version when our story’s finished, but if you don’t want to wait (it’s a long one), new installments come out every Monday and are always free to read at the link in my bio, thanks! #spectators #scifi #horrorart
This weekend at Exploding Giraffe, we’re talking artificial intelligence and art, like my dashing new author headshot here, created when animator @dan_kanemoto typed “Brian K. Vaughan Romance Novel Cover” into the A.I. program #MidJourney. More terrifying results, plus reverse-engineered SAGA characters from the legendary @fionastaples, at the link in my bio.
Today at Exploding Giraffe, we reveal how my hard-working correspondence dog Hamburger K. Vaughan selected the responses to the 2022 Reader Survey for next week’s new issue of SAGA. Link in bio to win some bonus junk from the Almighty Prize Drawer! 💥🦒 #saga #imagecomics #dachshund
What the hell is SPECTATORS? Find out at the link in my bio, where you can now read, for free, more than SIXTY PAGES of my new (and extremely graphic) graphic novel with co-creator @niko_henrichon and faithful SAGA letterer Fonografiks. And thanks very much for the kind words about Saga 60 last week. Fiona Staples and I greatly appreciate your patience as we work on this wild next arc, and I hope some serialized Spectators goodness will help make the wait a little easier. #comics #creatorowned #spectators
