Crazy that since we filmed this docuseries with the one and only @meganholiday , FutureNever went on to become the only Australian album this year to go #1 on the @aria_official chart TWICE 🤯 and broke the all-time record for the longest duration between an Australian album landing at and returning to #1. During lockdown the team at @bmgausnz and I had a crazy idea for a raw and real podcast, we built an episodic outline and a list of potential guests, we then took it to @spotifyaunz who enlisted @f_kmedia to help bring it to life and now we are nominated for the @australianpodcastawards Who Is Daniel Johns? has been nominated as a finalist for the Spotlight category but you can also jump in via the link in my bio and vote for it in The Listeners’ Choice category. We won Gold at the @australianpodcastawards 🥇 When I made this podcast I wasn’t sure I even wanted to do it, in fact I barely knew what a podcast was. I knew I had to tell my story because of a certain front page of a certain newspaper. My label pitched the idea to me as a way of building awareness around what I was up to with the hope that there might be some ears on my new music (whatever form that would take). We sat together and dreamed up a list of guests and wrote out an episode outline. We spoke to the legends at @spotifyaunz and they came on board and later invited the wonderful Frank and Kait along from @f_kmedia with @ameliachappelow to pull it all together. Incredibly the podcast became a global chart success and although I couldn’t attend the ceremony we’ve now won a Gold Spotlight Award which I’ve been told is one of the big ones. I love almost everything about the beautiful city of Melbourne except the cruelty and celebration of the Melbourne Cup. An animal welfare abomination of the highest order.
