Michelle Clunie Instagram – I know there are many reasons to lose hope right now. I think we have all struggled in the last several years as we have witnessed changes in our country and our Government. The problem is when you lose hope you stop taking action to make things better because why.. it’s not worth it. So hope is powerful. My friend Todd here reminded me of how powerful it is during our trip to DC. He reminded me of all we have fought for over the last 18 years. I was reminded of Howard Zinn’s words about the arc of justice. I saw Dashiell read the passage above Lincoln with tears in my eyes. Tears that we made it through the pandemic, tears that I taught him how to read during that time and tears for how much hope Todd gave me that day. Our friendship has been one of passing hope back and forth between each other. I remember years ago Todd called me after he was stuck in a room down in Florida fighting with Republican lawyers over Chads. He was one of the Democratic lawyers. After that, I pulled him into the LGBT March on Washington, pulling him back into politics. Anyway, I will always remember this day. Never lose hope. Hope is dangerous to people who would like to control us. Hope makes you believe you can win. Hope tells you to vote and helps you encourage others to vote as well.
