Our Lady J Instagram – Being young and trans is feeling insulted when you don’t get invited to baby showers or crying when people make you feel like you’ll never know what it’s like to be fully human unless you procreate. Being old and trans is feeling grateful that the good goddess had a divine plan all along that includes sleeping in, flying business class, and spending all of your money on dogs, crystals and drag shows instead of diapers, birthday parties, and tuition.
Our Lady J Instagram – There aren’t enough words to describe how wonderful Barbara Maier Gustern was. She was an angel to everyone lucky enough to know her, beloved by every downtown and Broadway artist in NYC. I must’ve had a hundred voice lessons with her over the 12 years that we worked together, each one filled with laughter and love. She literally gave me my voice. She came to every show, and even performed in a concert to raise funds for my first gender-affirming surgery. She was the most generous teacher I’ve ever known. An inspiration and a true legend.
