“40 is the new 30 they say”.
“WHAT?” Hahahhn! Uhhh, Nah, babe, 40 is the new 40, it doesn’t need to be anything else.
Why is there so much stigma around this age.
That is such an the outdate, tired, boxed-in societal judgment that 40 should be anything other than…..40. It’s a slap in the face.
To say it’ should be something else, it should be younger? Some even say “40 is the new 20”.
I was high in my 20’s, I almost died at 24 learning how to self medicate my trauma.
In my 30’s, I was still pushing the envelope but I was also still trying to feel good enough in my own skin, making wrong turns messing things up.
To say that 40 isn’t good enough.
For all the times I felt “no good enough” this IS good enough. 40 is good enough. I actually finally have a real sense of “good enough at 40. It’s like a giant expansion into a whole different level of self.
F*k “40 is the new 30”
“40 is the new 40” And I’m proud of it. I feel great.
I can genuinely say, I’m happy with the challenges I’ve overcome, the choices I’ve made, the mistakes I made too.
I’ve thought for myself.
Maybe I’ve hidden when I was scared but I’ve never played it safe.
Maybe I’ve questioned myself but I’ve never followed what others told me I “should” do.
Maybe I’ve been afraid but I never let anyone put my into a stereotype or box of what I can or cannot do.
And every time I made a big choice others thought was crazy, I didn’t know what would happen, but I risked the leap anyway.
I have not done anything average or “normal”.
If I had done everything I was support to do by societies standards….I would not have be where I am today.
So at 40, the dash year, as they say…..the dash on your tomb stone between your birthday your transition to another form date.….. I’m so here for it.
This next chapter will continue being everything that I have stood for – “Life is an adventure”, meant to be lived on OUR OWN TERMS.
Cause age only matters if you’re a fine wine. Hahaha!
