Roman Muradov Instagram – I’m in Paris! Signing tomorrow, Wednesday the 25th 3-6pm at @bullesentete15 235 bis boulevard Vaugirard. Between the lines, the book is an inversion of two famous short stories—James Joyce’s the Dead and Shirley Jackson’s the Lottery. I wanted to revisit my early influences, as well as my own early obsessions before moving on. Drawing it was a difficult experience—the story was initially inspired by the death of a close friend, and though the narrative eventually “wrote” all traces of her out of itself, the memories were always there in the details and whatnot. But after I finished it I started drawing and writing in a more relaxed manner, and it felt like I finally earned the lightness that I’ve always aspired to. So whatever I do next, it will be very different! The dream is to focus on the story and comedy, not style, and hopefully end up with something like Succession, or at least Peep Show. Paris, France

It’s 7pp, but very dense, up to 30 panels per page. Will be published in full color in an upcoming anthology from @futuretman Brooklyn, New York
