👑 @icet received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday. As a beneficiary of his kindness, I wanted to share the impact he has had on me. I first met Ice-T when I was just 16 years old (last photo), he treated me with respect and generosity from moment one. He even let me say a few words on one of his songs. I had no money , no experience, no talent to speak of. None of that mattered to Ice. He saw potential in everyone. I asked Ice-T to go on a tv show called Request Video.. around my 17th birthday (second video). The show was a long drive out of town but Ice had faith that I knew what was up so he agreed to do it. Faith in me?!?! How?!?! That same year I became the manager for his dj @djevile_1 and @hengeegarcia They let a 17 year old kid with zero experience manage them.. 🙏🏽 Thank you Hen-Gee and Evil-E for your belief in me, my bro @bronxstylebob , johnny rivers (photo of these guys at my high school graduation in 1990) chris boyd for making the intro , @darleneog_ortiz for being very kind to me and Erik Schrody @ogeverlast for all the love. Positive sentiment, support and encouragement from that crew started at the top, and that top was the O.G. Ice-T. He set the tone for everyone to help one another. The summer after graduating high school I flew to NYC for the New Music Seminar. I didnt have money for a pass, so Hen-Gee gave me Ice’s pass to copy and said Ice was cool with it. That copy got me in to my first ever music conference until the very last day when security realized I was not actually Ice-T. Fast forward to 1994, when I received my first gold record for an artist I signed @candlebox to @maverick records. I made three plaques to commemorate the occasion, one of them for Ice-T as a thank you for being my supportive entry into the music business. Ice-T’s well-deserved star on the Walk of Fame is a testament to his many accomplishments. This video is Ice’s closing words at the ceremony, where he thanked “the haters”.. Congratulations my friend on your star. And congratulations to your manager jorge hinojosa. An impressive 4 decade partnership 👏🏽👏🏽
