Mona Chalabi Instagram – Today, millions of people are choosing to honor an institution that has relentlessly exploited others for personal gain. And honor a woman who did nothing to change the course of history. I’m not into it.

The queen was born in a year when female life expectancy was 70.6 years but she died at 96. I’ll mourn all the people who didn’t get an extra 25 years with their loved ones because they didn’t have the finest of everything.

Mona Chalabi Instagram – These images have been printed at ginormous scale for an exhibition with @camstl. It opened last month and is up through February 2023. Someone took a photo of their baby in front of the art and I humbly request that you continue using cute infants for scale. 

I’m so grateful to the museum (especially @misakj & @wassan16) as well as Arica Schuett who worked so hard on this. The original pieces were made a few years ago but we updated the numbers and added plants to the mix so it wasn’t just about animal extinction. 

Image ID: NY subway carriages are filled with various endangered species. There are approximately 200-250 Hieracium Kneissaeum plants left in the world (225 are shown here), 10-49 Erythrina schliebenii plants (30 shown), 63 javan rhinos, 10 vaquitas, 310 amur leopards and 145 guam kingfishers.
