Gul Panag Instagram – Our Sunday rides are becoming more fun. Nihal has graduated to a bigger bike and has been off training wheels for over 18 months.
He is now becoming a full fledged member of the crew!

Today he wanted to ride in ‘arrow’ formation, ahead of his Mom and Dad. 💁🏻‍♀️

And he’s becoming faster. I can no longer go running with him like I used to , as I just can’t keep up. Recently , on a 5 km run, while I ran ( out of breath perpetually), he rode along with me on his bike. Or rather ahead. And I HAD to keep up- to be there by his side as negotiated riding on a road with other vehicles ( however few)! That day by having to run with him ( albeit after a short break in my own regimen), I was struggling to keep up, and finally had my lungs at bursting point. But managed to do the distance in 25 minutes. The fastest I’ve been, in over a decade! And no it wasn’t fun.🤦🏻‍♀️
That was the day I decided I would ride with him instead.

Yes, I have to ride slow. My bikes ( both the MTB and the Hybrid) are faster by virtue of wheel size and gears. But it’s easier than trying to up keep with him on a bike while I run.

Also, yet another affirmation of the fact that THEY DO AS YOU DO. NOT AS YOU SAY.

So I try and do the things I enjoy, with him in tow, while constantly striving to be a role model for him.
