Today has been one of those days where I felt like I couldn’t do anything on time, even if it was scheduled. And that includes this post. BUT I could not let today go by without expressing my sincerest and deepest love and support of the Trans community in a public way. Now is not the time to be a silent supporter for our trans community who needs to hear our voices, defending and protecting them, louder than ever. From the ridiculous Drag ban in my home state of Tennessee to the outright discrimination and abuse that Trans and nonbinary Americans are experiencing every day across our country, there is a long way to go in the fight for equality and understanding and we must continue it wholeheartedly! 140,000 Tennesseans woke up without a representative this morning. Republican TN legislative folks care more about having control of the state than they do about protecting their own citizens. 😵💫 I’m not talking about *taking all your guns* but I would just love if we could please at least agree that not requiring people to have permits to carry a gun is nothing but problematic and that the red flag system doesn’t work effectively. Can we just start there and then figure out how to create a new world where teachers and students can confidently go into their schools without living in fear every day?! And don’t @ me with any 2nd amendment violation nonsense. Part of my husbands livelihood includes gun training and safety so we understand better than anyone that guns are’t always the enemy but I have to believe that even our founding fathers would see how problematic things have become now that we’re not just toting around muskets like they were when these archaic laws were written. So let the 2nd amendment live but we all know there is not enough being done to prevent these tragedies. How am I meant to be willing to send my son to school in 3 years with shit legislation like this that does absolutely nothing to protect him. How many more people have to bury their sweet babies before we finally change. Today I am disheartened. But the work continues. 💔❤️🩹
