After loss, the world becomes muted. 🎬 Selectively mute after the trauma of loss, ‘MUTED’ follows one boy’s silent journey as he finds his voice through small acts of kindness by a girl at camp. This is a little taste of the 15 minute short we created over a few days at the 2021 Performing Arts Camp run by the school of @aipa_sydney Starring @harri_and_may and @evekkirk_ as well as @christiehayes_ who lent her vast experience to this film and gave such a stunning performance. I couldn’t have asked for a more talented or dedicated group to work with to step behind the lens for my first time directing!! Shot beautifully with Tony Jennings @smilingmandrill masterful eye, with stunning & meticulous sound by Jack Moiseyev edited by the brilliant Maika Harrell. A huge thank you to all those who worked hard on ‘Muted’, both in front of and behind the camera at camp. My first taste of directing lit a fire in me, definitely got the bug, much more to come I hope. Thank you to Marg Haynes @margsultana for creating this story that resonated so deeply with me and with this team! It was such a joy to vault with @blakedahlgren at @laevc again!! Thank you to Blake & Jimmy Kelley for shooting this as part of an audition for something. Vaulting is gymnastics on horseback, “Poetry in Motion” and my greatest love growing up. My sister and I were so passionate about it. I haven’t done it in years but she would be smiling down from heaven seeing me back on the horse. Can’t wait to do this again in a month! So grateful to the Šárka team for bringing me to LA today to celebrate this film!! Set in Prague in 1949, This project is so important to us. The short we created as part of a much bigger project in development, shot in Prague as the world shut down in March 2020, fleeing the country in as the pandemic hit around us but we managed it. This film was truly the light in a dark time that was 2020. Šárka is one of the best roles I’ve ever play and I’m not done with her yet. Learnt a Czech accent and to sing in Czech for this, thank you to all those that helped me. Thank you to Directors and writers @proxyone & @dcpolcyn and producer extraordinare @devindigonno for creating something so extraordinary in extraordinary times, the best is yet to come!
