His mother has repeatedly insisted that he was shot by plainclothes agents of the Islamic Republic.
Yet the state has sentenced protester Abbas (Mojahed) Kourkour to death for the killing of the boy.
Kourkour’s family has stated that he was tortured into “confessing” to the shooting.
His mother, Golanbar Kourkour, has appealed to Iranians to help prevent her son from being hanged while Kian’s family has recorded statements noting that Kourkour is not responsible for their son’s death.
