It was occupied by the russian army during the first month of the war. 15,000 russian soldiers, ammunition depots, and artillery stations took part in the shelling of Irpin and nearby villages. The Ukrainian military liberated Kyiv Oblast at the end of March 2022, but the forest was partially demined only 2 weeks ago. Only one path is walkable, only when accompanied by de-miners, with little room for maneuvering. В перший місяць війни його окупувала російська армія. Тут розміщувалися 15 000 військових, склади з боєприпасами та артилерійські установки, з яких обстрілювали Ірпінь та прилеглі села. Українські військові звільнили Київщину ще наприкінці березня 2022-го, але ліс частково розмінували тільки два тижні тому. Ходити тут можна лише однією доріжкою, нікуди не звертаючи, і тільки у супроводі саперів.
