Sepideh Moafi Instagram – I got to spend an afternoon with Syrian artist & refugee @mohamad_jokhadar in his studio at Al Za’atari Refugee Camp in Jordan. He shared some of his work w/me & we spoke about art, process & inspiration. The breadth & depth of his creations took my breath away. I kept circling back to one piece that was inspired by the catastrophic earthquake at the Turkey/Syria border. The three faces on his piece were people he saw in the news who’d lost their families, their homes, their lives. This was Mohammad’s favorite piece & when I shared that it was my favorite too, he quickly offered it to me as a gift. His work isn’t only on display in the studio, you can find huge displays of his art on buildings throughout the camp & inside facilities like the @rescueorg health clinic. He said he recently spent a day & a half creating a massive mural together with some of the children in the camp. I’m honored & grateful to get to know such a deep, generous artist & can’t wait for the next opportunity to visit him. Thank you Mohamad. You inspire me. ✨❤️✨ @rescueorg
