To add to the calories, we EACH had a huge #AisKrimGulaApong with boba beads and Nestum topping by the waterfront. It was SO GOOD πŸ˜ͺπŸ˜ͺπŸ˜ͺ Ok, to ease our guilt, we walked across the bridge and around Chinatown, for an hour. The next morning, Effendi suggested we get up early to walk along the Waterfront before the city woke up, and so we did, and that was just serendipitous. It was lovely to see Kuching without traffic (and without all those colourful lights, for a change), and to spontaneously jump on a boat to go across the river. The Malay kampung across the river was such a lovely discovery. We had SEVERAL cars drive past us, and the people in it would stop and get down to say hello excitedly and chat with us - that was so charming and warm, I thought. Nobody talks to each other these days! After the morning walk, we went to @sarawakculturalvillage_scv where we were given such a warm reception by Jane and her team. Did a little tour, had a few discussions and then ATE SOME MORE - this time it was "highlander rice" which was black in colour, accompanied by shredded fish, petai and shredded beef.

Tiara Jacquelina Instagram – “Are you have a stress?”

“One community, support each other, PREVENT mental health together”

😭😭😭😭😭

My friend Jackie @tanoticrafts showed me this over dinner in Kuching – and yes, I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes, and nearly fell off my chair that night. But it really isn’t such a laughing matter, when you think of how our education system has failed some of our otherwise brightest University students for so many years.

How to go global, how to stand alongside the top brains of the world, when the standards of our basic grammar are so low? And PLEASE don’t suggest that we should deliver official speeches at international forums and write official letters to world leaders in Bahasa.

We know this is a problem, and Malaysia needs to catch up on SO many fronts – but our ability to communicate well in English should give us the upper hand over our other neighbouring countries. So please Ministry of Education – fix this NOW before it’s far too late.

I’m so stressed now, I think I should sign up for that workshop 🀯

Tiara Jacquelina Instagram – How much did we squeeze into our first 24 hours in #Kuching ?

A lot of food, 3 meetings, a visit to the @borneoculturesmuseum and a quick memory lane stop at Sarawak Club for @effendilovescoffee.

Our dinner on the first night at @kyujin.kch was such a wonderful discovery – Omakase style local cuisine by Chef Alexandro (good choice, Jackie @tanoticrafts πŸ’œ) Lunch the next day was at @bcmrestaurant where my favourite dish was the umai fish salad.

Had very productive meetings with YB Datuk Karim Hamzah, then 2 other meetings at the stunning, stunning Borneo Cultures Museum.

Sarawak is moving at such a rapid pace – so much has happened since our last trip together last October. Kuching, Sarawak.
