Andrea Savage Instagram – Okay, so I am feeling my ovaries today. Get over it. Today my 11 year old daughter was able to wake up to bigger and brighter dreams. @kamalaharris is the first woman elected to the White House. This is a truly monumental day. But this day is not just about the Vice President Elect and what her election symbolizes. I keep reflecting on how this is a day that has been earned by all of the political women whose dreams, anger, tears, strength, determination, joy, refusal to be cowed, refusal to bend to the attacks on their intelligence, physical appearance, sexuality came before her. The centuries of women who said the status quo was not enough and literally put their lives on the line to make the future of women more equitable, authentic and meaningful. The ones whose shoulders Harris has been lifted on top of to become Vice President Elect Harris. They are Democrat and Republican women. They are Black, White, Muslim, Jewish, Asian, and every other group in between women. I won’t say fearless women, because I am sure they were full of fear. It was just that their dreams outweighed the fear. Let’s continue to let our dreams outweigh our fears. I just want to say a tear-stained thank you to the incredible civic minded women who led us here.
