Vinessa Shaw Instagram – This is how I’ve been explaining the strike to my friends; most of whom did not know it is more about pay, and not just AI. I am part of the 2% of actors in the SAG-AFTRA Guild that the vice president is speaking about. I am the working class actor. Last year, after over 30 years in this business, I did not qualify for health insurance. Im back on track now, but it may not be the last time I lose my insurance. It’s a knock on effect: residuals used to help me qualify but streaming and inequity has taken that away. It’s a feast or famine business. Performers should be paid to survive the famine. Or how about thrive? I’m fortunate that I don’t have to work another job to make ends meet, but 98% of actors aren’t as fortunate. #sagaftrastrong #sagaftrastrike #wgastrong #wgastrike
