Ladies first ❤ yes I am traditional like that 😂 First episode of Shanaas undoubtedly rested on the shoulders of these two beautiful and exceptional women. The ‘Mothers’ are at the heart of this story specially Mahrukh and Raheela who are poles apart inspite of being from the same generation and socio-economic class, their respective ideas and handling of the conflict is not just interesting to watch but thought provoking since we live in a society where mothers enjoy a lot of ‘creative control’ on their children’s lives even long after they stop being children.
Mahrukh the bohemian enterprenuer is such a dynamic character who seems like the only adult around keeping it all together but falls apart like a little child when it comes to love and betrayal. Sania Saeed has done such a marvellous job at bringing so many conflicting emotions and that too all at once to this character. I was almost always in awe of her on the monitor. She breaks the mold over and over again and you cant help rooting for her.
Raheela with all her poise and propriety is so matter of fact about her beliefs; its almost amusing the calmness Sabahat Bukhaari has played it out with. There is no loss of control yet the character keeps evolving and surprising us. She gives us hope that if addressed logically and timely generational patterns can actually change. What a treat it was to have her on set!
I cant thank both of you enough for trusting me, supporting me and encouraging me through out the journey of Shanaas. It does mean the world!
