Allie Gonino Instagram – Narrowly a month into thirty-free and feeling freer than I have in a long time. I’ve learned so much in the past few years but I think the most important lesson is to stop waiting. To make the movie, to move to the new city, to start your own business, to work towards that dream job. Stop waiting for someone to choose you and choose yourself. Stop waiting to love yourself until someone else comes along. Stop waiting on that person who gives you just enough to hang on, but is actually fucking up your money, your self-worth, your mental state. Yeah they may be hot, rich, older (and seemingly wiser), claim to be Christian, or even famous! If they can’t communicate and be direct, and show respect for you, they ain’t shit. Full stop. When I pray I always pray for God to show me the truth. Even if it hurts. And sometimes I resist it. Who doesn’t love fantasy? But what He’s also shown me is myself. My worth. My value. And the depth and infinite world within me. And that’s freedom because now I don’t go looking for Heaven in others. I enjoy them for who they are, and walk away when I feel I have to betray myself in order to keep them in my life. The more I step into my sacred divinity as a woman who is sexual AND intellectual, sweet AND assertive, powerful AND flexible, soft AND strong, the more I embrace her – me – the more free I become.
