I so admire how she’s focused on a niche that is very important to me: the intersection of creativity, capitalism, and social justice. I cannot emphasize how much I respect her work.⁣ ⁣ Paco’s book “Finance for the People” (which was also just released as an audiobook!) normalizes honest money conversations and with a special attention to the folks who the financial system is stacked against. It’s a wonderfully illustrated and practical guide to navigating your financial life, no matter your financial situation. Bryce Dallas Howard Instagram – The world is changing and the labor movements of today will determine how we move forward, long into the future. While a lot of glitz & glamor is associated with Hollywood, the reality is that the majority of professionals involved in entertainment are working class, and in the last 15+ years the entire industry has felt the impact of an unsustainable business model. ⁣ ⁣ There are a number of labor movements currently in effect, and the more I learn about them, the more I can see the similarities. Each of these movements play a central role in ensuring economic & human rights protections – from @teamsters fighting for a fair deal w/ UPS, to hotel workers in LA, to @wgaeast & @writersguildwest writers and many other groups organizing for a liveable wage.⁣ ⁣ My grandparents Rance and Jean Howard never found fortune or fame but worked hard to support their family for 60 years as professional actors. Meeting health insurance requirements and making ends meet on a yearly basis without residuals would have been impossible. ⁣ ⁣ As a 3rd generation actor and proud union member, I know it’s true when our leadership says, “A strike is an instrument of last resort…. they have left us with no alternative.”⁣ ⁣ There is no future in a business where 87% of SAG-AFTRA members are unable to meet required health insurance minimums. (Even I, who many would perceive as having a successful career, have had many years where I did not meet the required insurance minimum!)⁣ ⁣ Current minimum wages make it difficult to keep up with the cost of living and the dwindling of residuals make it even more difficult to stay afloat between jobs.
