Our beautiful young children in Nanyuki #Kenya. From many different backgrounds, they are full of joy despite what they’ve been through. The programs @thesimamaproject_ puts together supported by the tremendous love and dedication the staff provides to give them the loving home they lack is impressive. Each year I see the positive change in each child and I know I have the BEST partner on the ground in Kenya with @thesimamaproject_ Thank you for all you do. These children’s stories are a remarkable testament to the power of spirit against all odds…from running away at 6 years old to avoid a marriage to an old man to abandonment, beatings and abuse …and yet they found their way to #the center of worth, @thesimamaproject_ and @women1one to get the love support and education they so badly need. We are pictured on the new land we want to develop to give them a safe permanent home. You can help support this project through the link in my bio. Much love and gratitude for helping us help these worthy children…our future!! Our deepest thanks to the wonderful foundation @artemisrisingfoundation who have supported our work with the most needy children from the very beginning.. thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Dinner at the supremely talented Bernar Venet and his beautiful wife Diane in Le Muy. Named ‘the greatest living artist in France’ his sculptures soar into space transferring the feeling of power and yet giving an opposing sense of lightness. The oval ‘eye’ captures the sky yet inside the colors slowly change giving another perception every few seconds of the frames space. Calming and zen! The cortin steel beams in the evening seem like airy dinosaur bones abandoned in the night thousands of years ago. Dreamy yet powerful and inspiring! Thank you @bernarvenetstudio and @dianevenet for a wonderful dinner and very inspiring evening. I came away feeling i can do more in the world. Thank you @flammariondebokay for this wonderful introduction. @venetfoundation @chateaufontainebleau #art #sculptures #bernarvenet #greatartists #inspiration #lemuy
Our impressive intern 19 year old @griffin_storm spent two months this summer at our center in Nanyuki, Kenya 🇰🇪 working with our amazing partner on the ground @thesimamaproject_ He introduced the students to #ChatGBT , taught classes on water conservation and shared his energy, joy and enthusiasm with everyone he met. Griffin chose to be in an intensive leadership program at Duke University called Service Opportunities Leadership or SOL This program supports those students wanting to do meaningful service and thoughtful engagement with communities, developing their own leadership skills. I asked Griffin what his take away was from his time with us… « My biggest takeaway is that talent is equally distributed across the world, but opportunity is not. When you give a child opportunity, they can achieve far more than they ever thought was possible! » Griffin was exemplary in all that he did working with the students and the children. Jackie and Sasha Gloria, two impressive girls in our program in Nanyuki at the #centerofworth I watched them grow and thrive. Ivfollowed their progress and am so impressed by all they have overcome to be the young women they are today! Jackie was beaten daily by her stepmom and deprived of meals, without her father knowing as he was away working and she didn’t want him to worry. Not being able to take it anymore, one day she ran away with her little brother and ended up living on the streets at 8 years old. Often rounded up with other children by police, Jackie was thrown into jail and again beaten to stop them from returning to the streets. Dreaming of more, she found her way to our center and with our wonderful partner on the ground @thesimamaproject_ I’ve known Jackie since #what makesshe was 10 years old. Now at 19 she has e and became a leader once she had the opportunities! Without telling anyone, she applied for a MasterCard Scholarship in Rwanda and after 6 agonizing weeks, she found out she got into the Rwandan Leadership U over sort and leaves for there this weekend!! She has been spending her time teaching the other kids at the center and mentoring and inspiring them. Jackie is bright, energetic, resourceful and full of fun. We can’t wait to see what she does with this opportunity. Sasha Gloria is another inspiring young woman. Charismatic and full of energy and solid dreams she has gone through so much. When she was beaten by her teacher for not having a new exercise book to write her lessons in ( her single Mom did not have the money) and thrown out of school, she was determined! She sat outside her class window and kept up with her class by following their lessons in secret through the window. Both these girls inspire me to do more and to support through @women1one more wonderful girls like them who will make a difference in the world. It’s the opportunités they get that makes that difference. @women1one @thesimamaproject_ @artemisrisingfoundation #womenone #women1one #educateher #educateagirlchangetheworld @mastercardfoundation #opportunitesmakethedifference #girlseducation
