TODAY I HAD MY HYSTERECTOMY! 🥳🥹 I went in around 9am & have been in my room since 1pm. Surgery went really well! We did have some trouble getting my pain under control in recovery, but we got there in the end 😅 I’ve wanted this for years & im so overwhelmed with emotions now it’s happened. I’m so glad I never gave up advocating for myself and my body. And please remember, we are all amazing with or without kids. Having children does not define you. I don’t have children of my own & Im okay with that. Please don’t suggest other ways of having children to women who are experiencing infertility, I can’t explain how infuriating it is when someone says to me “why don’t you adopt?” “Could you try surrogacy?”. Please stop.

I recommend you bring your own comfy blanket and 2 extra pillows. Hospital pillows and blankets aren’t great, the beds are too hard for me & boy of boy does my lower back hurt from it. I had my own pillows and blanket and it made my stay at the hospital more tolerable! If you are also getting a cystoscopy with your hysterectomy, be prepared for the most uncomfortable & painful feeling when you urinate for the first time. It feels like you have the worst UTI of your life. Take your pain medication as prescribed, you don’t want to feel pain while you are recovering in the first 24hrs trust me! This surgery doesn’t really feel any different from any other surgery I’ve had for endometriosis/PCOS. Im home today & currently resting in bed 💛 I will continue to update you on how the recovery is going.
