Greta Thunberg Instagram – Week 258. Today I joined climate activists from @stopcambo to demand the UK and Norway to #StopRosebank. If approved, extracted and burned, this one oil field would produce more CO2 than 28 countries in the Global South do in a year. Global leaders have been told time and time again that we can’t have any more new oil and gas if we want to limit global warming to 1,5°C. Yet the UK and Norwegian state-owned oil giant @equinor want to push through this disaster. @Equinor made record-breaking profits last year by causing record-breaking temperatures across the world. And it would get billions in tax breaks to open this disastrous field. Even though it would do nothing to lower energy bills or energy security. For a safe climate and affordable energy, rich countries like the UK must stop expanding oil and gas production. The first step is to #StopRosebank. You can help.
