I’ve been studying tae kwon do for over twenty years. I’m a fourth degree black belt. And I’ve never really gotten to use any of it, save for kicking a lamp off a desk in ‘Til Death and boxing Jay Mohr in Gary Unmarried, in my career. Until @doogiekamealohamd @kourtneykang and the writers figured out a way for a character who is a doctor and a mom to have full out martial art fight scenes. This was a dream of mine that came true and I am so grateful! Thanks to @thestevejoe for writing the episode. I got Covid the week before we were supposed to shoot, so they moved the schedule around, I practiced in my apartment while I was quarantining, and the day I tested negative was the day I shot my first fight scene with @danieldaekim who was a total gem and incredibly fun to work with. With barely any rehearsal or practice, I’m so proud of what we got done. @dennisaliu directed this really fun episode, with a really cool lens they flew all the way to Hawaii from Los Angeles. And a special shout out to Master George at @national_tkd_center If you hadn’t taught me how to use a bo staff, there is no way we would have been able to shoot the hospital board melee. Thank you.
