Nathalie Kelley Instagram – Did you know that global supermarkets are complicit in the destruction of one of South America’s most important biomes, the Cerrado? Most consumers are unaware that the meat and dairy products they buy from supermarket chains are linked to the destruction of the Cerrado. The cheap meat and dairy stacked high on supermarket shelves, comes with a high environmental cost. How many of us are aware that these products come from animals reared in factory farms? And that they are given feed made from Brazilian soy – sourced from farms that have been directly linked to fires and deforestation in the Cerrado? Where does the responsibility lie? It’s time to hold these supermarkets and companies accountable for bombarding us with cheap meat and other animal products – making it difficult for many of us to buy alternatives. We need the Cerrado as much as the Amazon to cool our rapidly warming world. @standmighty is pushing for stronger legal protections for this biome and for supermarkets to CUT ties with suppliers linked to the destruction of nature.
