Nathalie Kelley Instagram – Please don’t make mistake our exuberance in these videos for happiness about the terrible toll that this strike is having on hundreds of thousands of people. What you are seeing in these videos is a collective feeling of solidarity among the creative people that tell your favorite stories – knowing that our demands are just and that we are on the right side of history. This fight, centered mostly over the issues of labor/wage fairness and AI – is a microcosm of what is happening in industries around the world. Corporations and the executives running them are getting richer while employees bare the burden of cost cutting. Meanwhile jobs are being lost to AI in every sector. They told us that AI would only do the jobs we DIDNT want to do! And now we are witnessing the rise of Generative AI – fed on our creative work without compensation – coming for the work we held most sacred: our human creativity. Story-telling is what makes us human, our stories and myths have always guided us as a species. If we give over this birthright to computer generated content dictated by a soulless algorithm now – that cannot bode well for the future of our species. We have already seen the kind junk television the algorithm has dictated we should watch.. This is a critical time in our Earths history, now more than ever we need to reconnect to our humanity to come together and get out of this mess. This is not the time to hand over the reins of our creativity to machines or corporations.
