When you do strenous physical activities like hill sprints, your body releases a surge of “happy hormones” known as endorphins. Those are natural neurotransmitters that act as pain relievers and mood boosters. They are often referred to as the body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals, hell yesss they are! 🥳
During hill sprints (never mind the fact that you at some point feel like you’re about to die from exhaustion 🥵), the effort and intensity trigger the release of endorphins in response to the stress you’re putting on your body. 🏃♀️
Endorphins “speak” with receptors in your brain, reducing your perception of pain and promote a sense of well-being, and some times euphoria. This is often what we call the “runner’s high,” where you get a rush of happy emotions 🥰
Doing hill sprints regularly can lead to more frequent releases of endorphins = a sustained improvement in your mood over time! What’s not to love about hill sprints?!🤪
Totally free, natural and…well… kind of brutal. But they’re SO worth it!
1: Find a hill or a stretch of a hill that suits your fitness level
2: Run up that damn hill
3: Walk briskly or jog down
4: Repeat 3-5-10 times, depending on your fitness level and the length of the sprint
I did 10 sprints, and left a 🌿at the bottom of the hill for each sprint !💃
