Yay, it’s BANDED Tuesday again! 🥳 This time we are using a light superband which we step into. You can adjust the resistance by having one or both feet inside the band. Make sure you always engage your core before starting the movement to protect your back. Also, make sure your shoulders are “tucked into your back pocket” , imagine that you raise your arms supported all the way from your back. Depending on the resistance from the band and your strength level; adjust the rep range accordingly. Typically you need more reps using a light band, but these are working your shoulders isolated and are hard even with a light resistance. Make sure you don’t raise your shoulders or compensate by bouncing or pending. Work focused and honest! That’s when you get the best results. Grab a miniband, it’s Banded Tuesday! 🥳 Training with bands give you freedom and flexibility, and is a great addition to your training toolbox!🧰 They add autonomy to your training as they are light and cheap, you can bring them with you on travels, or why not do a session in your lunch break, outside or at home. They are also great for rehab training, shoulder training, glute focused accessory work, to work around injuries and for experimenting without risk of injury. (Just don’t aim towards your face and have garments between the rubber and skin when there’s a lot of friction) 👍🏼 I like to think of bands as an intuitive, autonomous way of training as you can really experiment, focus on mind/muscle connection and execution. You can also direct and adjust resistance easily and vary the angles. Use them alone or as a supplement in a session; I guarantee you they will kick your ass if you push yourself enough! 😈The same training principles apply no matter what resistance you use. Just a little reminder to be a little bit kinder to yourself. You are doing your best, and some days that can look like you’re not trying at all. But you ARE. 🙏🏼 Self love can be hard, – try to slowly introduce self CARE if loving yourself seems far fetched. Introduce small habits that express kindness towards yourself. Like buying those pretty flowers for no special occasion, having that extra cup of coffee in the morning or allowing yourself to feel all the feelings. It can be small things, but they are really the big ones- because they are acts of love towards yourself ♥️
HILL SPRINTS FOR PRESIDENTS! 🏁 (swipe for more!) ((Oh, and I forgot that videos in posts can’t be longer than 60 seconds..) ) When you do strenous physical activities like hill sprints, your body releases a surge of “happy hormones” known as endorphins. Those are natural neurotransmitters that act as pain relievers and mood boosters. They are often referred to as the body’s natural “feel-good” chemicals, hell yesss they are! 🥳 During hill sprints (never mind the fact that you at some point feel like you’re about to die from exhaustion 🥵), the effort and intensity trigger the release of endorphins in response to the stress you’re putting on your body. 🏃♀️ Endorphins “speak” with receptors in your brain, reducing your perception of pain and promote a sense of well-being, and some times euphoria. This is often what we call the “runner’s high,” where you get a rush of happy emotions 🥰 Doing hill sprints regularly can lead to more frequent releases of endorphins = a sustained improvement in your mood over time! What’s not to love about hill sprints?!🤪 Totally free, natural and…well… kind of brutal. But they’re SO worth it! 1: Find a hill or a stretch of a hill that suits your fitness level 2: Run up that damn hill 3: Walk briskly or jog down 4: Repeat 3-5-10 times, depending on your fitness level and the length of the sprint I did 10 sprints, and left a 🌿at the bottom of the hill for each sprint !💃 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿 I’m curious: Will you try hill sprints? Yay!🔥Why not use bands to get your heart rate up AND work the big muscles in your body at the same time? Win/win! 🙌🏻⚡️ Choose the low impact variation if you have any knee issues. Also make sure you have a strong core and shoulders back & down. The more vigorous/large movement with full extension, the more important it is to be controlled and create a solid base from your core, your back and have good balance. So go easy at first, -for most people it is more than hard enough with the first variation.😅 After a while you can progress and make it more intense. Do you find it hard to stay committed and focused on the big things? 🙇🏼♀️ I feel ya’, I’ve been there SO MANY TIMES myself the past few years!😅 The bigger our goals, the more we need to manage our energy, emotional/mental/physical state, time and priorities. In order to achieve hard earned things we must be willing to show up and serve the purpose again and again. Each day is different, and so is our mood and state. But what needs to be constant is our willingness to show up and serve -AS WE ARE. Not “tomorrow “ because it seems to be a better day when you’ll have more focus/energy/confidence/time, but TODAY. This is the hard part; to actually be able to see and trust the value of small actions and efforts made while we don’t feel like it or lack energy or confidence. Don’t underestimate the power of now, and the small steps you can take to move forward no matter what shape you’re in! Make a promise to yourself that you won’t let today’s distractions be the reason why you gave up on something important to you in the future. 🙅🏼♀️ Do what you can in the present moment for your future self,- as you are. 😘 Each day you show up for yourself holds its own beauty & purpose, AND you get to work on your future. Banded Tuesday again!⚡️ This time a banded single arm row. Controlled movement, also in the lowering. No momemtum, but steady and honest work in every rep. Since bands are usually lighter, do more reps than you would with a dumbbell.
