To the many movie and television marathons, to the Spirit Halloweens, to the pumpkin smashings, to the buffet of no return, to the midnight forest adventures, to the night in the abandoned house, to my ICMS (Indian campfire midnight society), to the terrifying triumph that was @boom_pro_wrestling, and to everything that was started by the dreary playing of the undead, untuned, piano keys. This is my favorite time of year and coming out of the shackles of the last couple of years – this one was one to remember. It is my honor to be indulged so readily – by my monstrous clan. This is a place where, if you love acting, you get to do it. All the time. Without any of the BS that comes with this industry. This place isn’t a “means to an end.” It’s the piano you sit at on a Sunday morning and play. It is a place to grow your love of acting and to be able to truly do things you always dreamed you could as an actor, while being trained, inspired and moved around by, as you can see, one of the best to do it. I’ve been lucky in my career but I wouldn’t have been lucky if she didn’t prepare me to be ready. People ask me why I still go here, since 2009. Because I love acting and that’s what this studio is – it lets you just love it – and love and SUPPORT watching the talented people around you grow. When I say the most talented people I have seen act, EVER, have been a part of this studio and trained by Deb – I don’t care if you think it’s hyperbole – it’s not. Don’t go here if you’re lazy or if you need your ego stroked. You go here because you love doing this and if you do, the amount of growth you’ll have not only in your work but in your life, will be exponential. I’ve seen people who originally came for public speaking now recur on shows, I’ve seen the most shy people turn into absolute forces of nature, and people who were about to quit – jump start their love of it again. I’ve seen it all. We knew before she helped prepare Gabe to play Steven Spielberg, in the Steven Spielberg biopic, directed by Steven Spielberg. And if you don’t know, now you know. @deb_podowski
