Andrea McLean Instagram – Oh my goodness, this week’s conversation is a SCORCHER! Toxic Productivity is probably a term you’ve heard of but thought it’s a fancy pants name for someone who is grumpy and busy. I know I did. It’s not. It’s the term used to describe someone who is permanently busy, even when they have run out of energy, motivation and strength but keep limping on because they don’t know any other way to be. 🙋🏻‍♀️ That’s me. I have crashed and burned over and over, and still didn’t learn. I even wrote a Sunday Times best-selling book about it, and guess what? I forgot my own life lessons, didn’t take my own advice, and blooming well did it again! That’s why this week’s Midlife Conversation is so good, because it’s a reminder that all of us are fighting our way, like salmon swimming upstream, against a tide of social conditioning and social media content that constantly tells us we have to ‘slay’, we have to push through, and keep going, and quitting is for losers. Andrea McLean Instagram – 4 Things I did this week to fill my cup that had nothing to do with work: 1. Technically this was a work type event, but it didn’t feel like it because it was such fun. I was interviewed by the very impressive @jo_elvin for her podcast ‘Fame’ as part of The London Podcast Festival. To be asked to be a guest on a podcast that that featured the likes of @jameelajamil and @amyschumer was an honour! 2. Afterwords Mr F and I had an unplanned date night in a nearby restaurant, which was very nice. 3. I took @teddymcfeen for a long walk today before it got too hot to move. I listened to @steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO podcast interview with @amycuddy as I walked. Such an impressive woman, and someone I’d definitely like to talk to myself one day. 4. We met up with our dear friends @nickede and @mrdrewnaylor for a long lunch today. We didn’t take any photos because we were too busy chatting, but here is one of us on our way home over my favourite bridge – Albert Bridge. There’s something so romantic about this bridge, I’ve always loved it. A lovely end to a very hot week! #4things
