Gul Panag Instagram – Staying at @theleelapalaceudaipur feels like being transported to another realm- of  grandeur, opulence, heartwarming hospitality and incredibly fine taste.  A unique interpretation  of Indian luxury, the Leela celebrates each hotel through its unique location, art, architecture, culture and cuisine with thoughtful services, celebratory rituals, and immersive experiences capturing the essence of India and the richness within. 

Art is beauty and here at The Leela, they understand the emotions that beauty and art can evoke. And the visual treat here evokes a lot. Be it a sculpture in a hallway, the carving on a staircase, the coloured marble inlays on a ceiling panel, or traditional paintings on the walls, each of these elements has been specially curated to leave you with a sense of awe-inspiring wonder. 

The Leela Palace Udaipur has an exquisite collection of Indian art forms, spiritually inspired installations, larger-than-life paintings, striking sculptures and much more, each harnessing different mediums and sensibilities.

And it’s not just a house of  pretty things- it’s a mansion of fine art.
The Leela in Udaipur brings to life the ancient art and craftsmanship of Mewar.  Forgotten Indian crafts like Tarkashi work, Tekhri and Bidri were placed at a place of prominence in an effort to preserve Indian tradition. 
I am in awe of the mirror in lay  work ( Tekhri)  that adorns the walls of every room, the courtyard – in  fact everywhere!

Our abode during the stay was the Royal Suite- stunning in every way. From the high ceiling dome adorned by an enormous chandelier to the silver artwork , and beautifully crafted  furniture, the  beautiful paintings – every thing is curated with a fine eye for detail. From the silver art work, the furniture, the paintings and even the rare coffee table books. 

Nothing I write or  pictures I share  can possibly do justice to the incredible visual journey  that one is taken on here at the Leela Palace Udaipur – and  so I can only offer a glimpse.😅
