From first bite, I was a fan of @sietefoods and their wonderful array of products. I started with sly nips (that’s a good band name) from bags of churro chips and quickly developed a nagging habit for their almond flour tortillas which led to a full blown addiction to their lime chile chips, Mexican wedding cookies, hard taco shells and now puffs – going through several bags a week. So I felt like Charlie trading in his golden ticket for a tour of the chocolate factory when the Garzas invited me and the family to Austin to tour their HQ to see the origins of my obsession. #JuntosEsMejor is the vibe from the moment you enter their doors. You know you wanna COMPOST 🪱 It’s easy and NECESSARY 🌏 It’s LIFE 🌱 Here’s how I compost: I divide my food waste. I love the @simplehuman dual compost system 🗑️ One side is garden compost: Veggies, Garden Clippings, Fruit, Eggshells etc 🥗Other side? Food waste for my @bokashiliving compost which takes EVERYTHING ELSE: Meat, Bones, Garlic, Onion, Citrus, Processed Food 🍔 Then it’s COMPOST time ⏰ I add my garden compost to my subpod garden bed. I turn the compost for quicker decomposition and keep those worm 🪱 blankets on top to protect the buggies 🐞 Then I add the other food waste to my #BokashiCompost and add a scoop of Bran on top. I seal it up and forget about it 🤌 until it is highly broken down (will look like a mold bomb 💣). Then I just add it to my subpod. Don’t forget to use your compost bed to grow as much as possible! I pickle now 🥒 my girlfriend gave me cucumbers from her garden and instead of letting them go to waste, we made pickles! Thank you @themediterraneandish for the recipe ✨ Brine: 🥒 3 cups vinegar 🥒 2 ¼ cups of water 🥒 2 ½ tablespoon kosher salt 🥒 3 tablespoons each whole coriander seeds, mustard seeds and peppercorn, 2 bay leaves. 🥒 Bring to a boil, then lower heat and let simmer for 10 minutes Hot tip 🔥 let the cucumbers sit in an ice bath for 20-30 minutes after slicing for extra crisp What to pickle next?!
