Mary Stuart Masterson Instagram – When we founded @stockade_works in 2016, and @upriverstudiosny in 2019, we were hoping to scale production in the Hudson Valley, 100 miles upriver from New York City. We wanted to create opportunity for our neighbors to live and work in this beautiful part of the world, while also enjoying meaningful and lucrative work. Since then, we have trained, and continue to mentor, over 270 (and growing) local residents (over 40% BIPoC, 60% female). We scaled the industry in the Hudson Valley, but our tax credit isn’t quite strong enough to compete with neighboring states’ programs anymore. Thanks to @govkathyhochul for getting the power of entertainment to generate massive revenue for New York State. Thanks to @michellehincheynysenate for leading the effort to ensure upstate gets the added incentive it needs to transform our local economies. This program creates more opportunity for New Yorkers than it “takes”.
