Long drives and some crazy switch back roads to some isolated treasures and state park campgrounds through northern california and the pacific coast. Wow. Love adventuring with my brother and definitely discovered a new love for working with and cooking on the fire. I wish we were still out there! More soon, I’m sure. More pictures, too. I won’t be geo-tagging any spots here. But if you’re curious – get out there!! Xoxo resurfacing from an epic, jam-packed recon trip. Throwback to Colin and I in Peru giggling like idiots during our mototaxi ride back to the airport aaand – a bunch of other stuff (including my sweet bubbaloo who I miss very much). Anyways – THE POINT IS – I get to see my bro in a week for a much belated joint birthday trip and the excitement and joy is real! /Slash/ I am swimming in what feels like endless preparation. It sucks not living closer but it makes our adventures that much more special. Thank you for putting in the effort and taking the time. Love you, lil bro. See you soon. 🤗 Holy Moly. When I listen for what I want to share about our time together – I experience a bombardment of memories. It feels good to dive deep into a structured schedule and to be bolstered and inspired through accountability and fellowship. Wake up. Qi Gong. Meditate. Breakfast. Morning training. Lunch. River. Rinse. Afternoon training. Dinner. Evening lecture. Time with the Altar. Meditate. Sleep. Again. Again. Again. Between that? Laughter. Tears. Vulnerability. Silliness. Dancing. Cooking. Sharing. Art. Music. Getting to know one another. Damn – this group was/is incredible and filled with some of the coolest human beings I have had the great fortune to cross paths with. Words aren’t enough. It’s really one of those, ‘You had to be there…’ kind of things. My endless gratitude is offered in all directions and particularly up and out to the stars that have provided inspiration for time immemorial to the seekers and sages where these great traditions were born. Thank you @lindsey12wei for stewarding these teachings and creating space for your students. Thank you to my fellows, I continue to abide in a space of admiration for who you are in the world. You inspire me. 🪷 Speaking of those humans… I celebrated my birthday during this immersion and received such kindness from them that it brought me to tears. To my dear friends, for your encouragement and gentle nudging around sharing – I have you to thank. It almost didn’t happen. But it did! In the dark, we schlepped a wagon full of water and tea schtuff down a very steep hill. @mugen___________ brought incense to share with everyone and then we all laid there, staring up at the stars, trying to recall what @lindsey12wei had shared the night before, seeing what else there was to witness… ♾️🤙🏼. Eventually we fell asleep, burrowing deeep into our sleeping bags. It got chilly at night. In the morning this beautiful mist lingered over the river – all of our gear was damp. As quietly as I could, a little tea space started to come together as everyone slowly woke up. We had some casual tea until the sun was blazing. There was a curious bluejay bouncing around as everyone stayed bundled up with their layers and their tea. That was an awesome night and morning. I’m so glad it happened. And that Felix and SK got some snaps of it. 🥰 I absolutely treasure @cedarbloomfarm- filled with spaces both adorned and left bare to discover and create magic in. Thank you @daughterofthesun_ for hosting us. 🥹 Before a day off, a group of us brought our sleeping gear down to the river for the night. It almost didn’t happen. But it did! Thank you @daughterofthesun_ for hosting us. 🥹 Calling you in to intercede with that inner voice that speaks through your heart. My heart is breaking as I continue to learn about the tragedy unfolding on Maui. Let us bond together and encourage each other to help where we can. You can send money either through organizations you trust or directly to families in need. There are a few google docs floating around that are frequently updated – there is one linked in my bio. If you are not abundant in cash at this time there are other ways for you to contribute. You can meditate/pray for them. It’s okay if you don’t find yourself in a regular practice of this, you can start at any time, you probably already do this naturally without even knowing. Intention and purposeful action has big currency. Find a quiet space for yourself and settle into your body. Sit comfortably and upright, with a tall spine. You can even set a timer if you like if it helps you to let go. Close your eyes, let your heart move you. Pray for the lands of Hawaii. Pray for all those who have been affected by this unimaginable event. Pray for the peoples of Maui. Pray for their strength to be fortified. Pray for their moments of rest to be deep and replenishing. Pray that all money and donations arrive quickly and safely to where they are needed the most. Pray that the people of Lahaina receive assistance, protection, safety, and justice through this current time and onward as they navigate the future. Pray that all are able to move through their grief in their own ways and in their own time. May a current of peace await them. There is going be an amplification of all the suffering that is taking place. I am trying to remind myself to stay informed and not look away simply because I can and have the privilege to do so. We can let it open our hearts and tune us into that ever widening circle that is holding Hawaii right now and amplifying these intentions and prayers. You are welcome to share your prayers, intentions in a comment below – in this way – maybe someone else will see it and include it in their meditation/prayer, too. Help in what ways you can. I know you have so much to offer. Even in a simple quiet moment.
