Trent released this song in 2017–it’s one of my favorite songs i’ve ever heard and one of those songs i wish i had written. In 2020 i found myself relating to the song more than ever and played it for someone who, at the time, was more than everything to me. i recorded set for life one evening for them more as a gift or a way of communication—but like most things in our relationship i felt it go unnoticed, unappreciated, and not even listened to. this is that version. that vocal. and from that moment. Set for Life means so much to me and i am so honored to sing this song and have it on this album…it was an extremely important part of my story. “The Hardest Part” is finished now. Noah Cyrus Instagram – “Hardest Part – Bluegrass Version” for this track on the deluxe album i wanted to pay homage to some of the music which inspired me while creating it. the goal was to give each song a whole new feel while using original elements from their original versions. for this one, we really wanted to let the harmonica (played by @ross_garren) shine and be the main focus. to paint the picture of being back home on the porch watching the sun go down, we brought back in the soundscapes from the original (the hawk and birds) and gave them a much bigger part. i cut a new vocal, @sweetpazano layed down some sweet banjo, acoustic and slide guitar, after adding percussion, and some fiddle by @violinolema , we had ourselves a record. i loved making these songs with you @mikecrossey .. we hope you love this version as much as us 🫀 deluxe album out now
