i’m so proud of this song and video. there’s nothing i love more than writing such personal, meaningful music with people i love. @pjhardingmusic writing songs with you is my favorite things to do in the whole world and @mikecrossey producing out “IBLAD” and arranging @chrisbondmusic drums was one of my favorite parts of creating the whole album. it was such a dream as i’ve admired chris’ work for yeeeeeeaaaaarrrrsss. thanks @actualobjects for creating such a beautiful video and representation of the song. everything i saw in my head you guys brought to life. @clairefarin @rickfarin u guys have put so much into this video and i love u both so much. claire- thank u for being the best support system and friend ily.

thank you so much to every single person that helped create the I Burned LA Down music video. it was a very big idea that took a very big team and i’m so grateful for all of you working so hard to help make such a beautiful piece of art.. AND filming with my favorite girl (horse) Moonstone is always so peaceful and fun for me and is the most comfortable i could ever feel on camera. (it’s usually kinda uncomfortable for me) my grandfather always said “the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man” and my God is that true. i’ve never felt less anxious and more connection to myself than when i’m on a horse. (and i miss showing off my equitation)
truly every thing about this video is extremely special to me and so is every single person and ANIMAL thats a part of it ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥🐴🐴🐴

The Hardest Part – Deluxe is out today with a new song Set for Life, written by my dear friend Trent Dabbs. Trent released this song in 2017–it’s one of my favorite songs i’ve ever heard and one of those songs i wish i had written. In 2020 i found myself relating to the song more than ever and played it for someone who, at the time, was more than everything to me. i recorded set for life one evening for them more as a gift or a way of communication—but like most things in our relationship i felt it go unnoticed, unappreciated, and not even listened to. this is that version. that vocal. and from that moment. Set for Life means so much to me and i am so honored to sing this song and have it on this album…it was an extremely important part of my story. “The Hardest Part” is finished now.
My goal with the deluxe album was to give something completely new with each of the songs while also using all of the incredible instrumentation we already had on the record. the album was so immersive and there’s so many layers and beautiful things about each song you can’t really hear every little thing that’s really creating the atmosphere. so mike crossey and i wanted to take the most special pieces of each song and give them their own moments and to also give you another perspective and hear new things you may not have been able to find in the original records.
we had so much fun diving back into these songs .. we really missed making this album.

“Hardest Part – Bluegrass Version”
for this track on the deluxe album i wanted to pay homage to some of the music which inspired me while creating it. the goal was to give each song a whole new feel while using original elements from their original versions. for this one, we really wanted to let the harmonica (played by @ross_garren) shine and be the main focus. to paint the picture of being back home on the porch watching the sun go down, we brought back in the soundscapes from the original (the hawk and birds) and gave them a much bigger part. i cut a new vocal, @sweetpazano layed down some sweet banjo, acoustic and slide guitar, after adding percussion, and some fiddle by @violinolema , we had ourselves a record. i loved making these songs with you @mikecrossey .. we hope you love this version as much as us 🫀
