Do you know where your chicken comes from? What kind of life do they live? What kind of food do they eat? Well here’s how we run our pasture raised chicken operation at @browseyacresoregon –
Our chicks are dropped off from a local hatchery, we do not support male culling and raise a mix of males and females together. They stay in their indoor “nursery” until 4 weeks old and then schooners on the pasture till they’re 8-10 weeks old (industry standard is closer to 6 weeks).
We feed them our proprietary, corn and soy free, canola based blend, along with pasture grass and whatever bugs they can find and minerals from our volcanic southern Oregon soil.
They mix 300 pounds of their droppings in with the soil when they’re moved to a fresh patch of grass each day. After they’ve taken the grass down and mixed in their poo we let the area rest till next year. By then the grass has fully recovered and we let our wagyu herd graze on it, followed by the chickens again, and so on.
We love our animals and hope you enjoy watching them live on our pasture exhibiting natural behaviors and taking part of the ecosystem instead of being removed from it.
We believe the highest quality life for our animals yields the highest quality product- Check the link in our bio to try for yourself 🙏🏼❤️🐓🐂
See ya guys at the @BrowseyAcres booth at the Klamath Falls farmers’ market tomorrow! #RegenerativeWagyu #PastureRaisedChicken
We’re here at @browseyacresoregon where you can see our #BrowseyBirds in action! This is how they stimulate growth and add nutrients to the soil that then feeds our wagyu. This scene isn’t exactly how we usually feed our herd though, we rotationally graze our animals to sequester carbon and rejuvenate our soil – but our American wagyu weeners (up to 8 month old half angus/half wagyu) escaped their acre of fresh grass for today and are helping themselves to the whole pasture 😅 it’s gunna be a fun job rounding them (and their pet sheep) up tomorrow – stay tuned!
And if you wanna vote with your dollar to support climate change combatting regeneratively pasture raised beef and poultry check the link in my bio
🐓🐂🙏🏼❤️
