Sometimes the hardest thing to get in the world is ‘quiet’ both internal and external…. I guess if one has the internal quiet, the external noise is really not a problem. But until then – the external vagaries become very relevant….
When dancing it’s easy to have that quiet – it’s only when the dancing stops, that the noise begins.
I have started making a conscious effort to stay away from my phone. It’s not like I get more work done, if I check more frequently 🙄

I used to need time to get into my “performance zone” . I had to have space and distance from people and conversations before getting on stage.
Especially when I had to start a piece embodying a character, I needed anywhere from 15-30 mins.
As time passed, I started being able to get into the skin of a character, and even into the zone of performance much much faster. Now I need a few seconds. It’s difficult to stay away from conversations back stage and if disturbances threw me off, it’s detrimental to the performance.
So it’s been important for me to learn to filter and ignore while in preparation backstage….
To find quiet amidst disquiet has helped me a lot.

Day 50: #100daysofinnergrowth I’m finding that it’s not really learning what to say, but learning when to remain silent that is most important. We often speak before we think… and taking that step back and choosing to remain silent is becoming my first step in learning this valuable lesson. I don’t succeed all the time. But even the few times that I do, it makes a world of difference to the outcome of an interaction.

A meditative quiet interpretation of the symbolism of lord Ganesha’s various attributes.
Obeisance is paid to Ganesha at the beginning of every momentous occasion. Ganesha’s image symbolises all the qualities that one needs to embody to overcome obstacles. Not ‘Obstacles’, of the material physical world, but the impediments of our inner being.
He has big ears and a small mouth, that imply that he listens more than he speaks; he sits on a tiny mouse that indicates that one must keep their desires under control; holding an axe in his right hand and a rope in his left shows that he helps us cut our bonds to this material world, while simultaneously pulling us nearer to the knowledge of the self; his large stomach indicates that one must be able to digest the good and the bad with equanimity and his big head is a symbol of thoughtfulness and contemplation.
