Chris Hardwick Instagram – This photo was taken on Sunday, Oct. 8, which was my TWENTY YEAR sobriety birthday. I am beyond grateful for that single decision because it led to so many wonderful things.
A couple of days prior, I brought home a vintage guitar that I had restrung with nylon strings, reasoning that if Dimity had any interest in it that it would be better for her hands than metal ones. It turns out she DID have an interest….as soon as I walked in the house with that guitar, she ran up to me with a small toy one she has with the BIGGEST smile on her face. So we sat on the floor for a while and played. It was one of my all time favorite things ever. And by “played” I mean she smacked at the strings for a while and laughed and laughed but I have no doubt she’ll still be better at it than me in no time. 🤣
I’m grateful for @lydiahearst, our little bear Dimity (who turned 21 months old today!!!), and the fact that my sobriety gives me the gifts of clarity and presence for them and for moments like this.
I mention it just in case it helps someone who might be thinking about it, on the fence, or struggling with it and might need some encouragement or a positive sign. ❤️
