Kirsten Ramsay Instagram – A real challenge on tonight’s Repair Shop, a sculpted plaster head with a large section missing along with the original wooden base.
It was one that required me to dig deep into my years of experience to find a treatment that would look good but also have the strength to support the structure of the sculptural head.
I couldn’t have done it without the help of @williamkirkrestoration who carved an exact replica of the missing original base and helped devise a plan to bond the two sections together.
We only had two poor quality pictures to work from but a happy outcome when the sculpture was revealed to Martin and it was just as he had remembered it as a boy.
