We played with the disproportionate barbie doll, and scanned through the digitally altered magazine covers. Other people have have also reinforced the message that it’s too big or too small and needs ‘fixing’ . We have heard it directly ‘Hey,looks like you have gained a few kilos’ or from your friends who were laughing about the larger woman wearing shorts that were “too short for someone so fat. So like a sponge we soaked up the lesson that to be acceptable, we can’t look like that. Looking like a real woman means loving your body the way it is. I pray this will sink in, give you hope, empower you and strengthen you in your fight to celebrate and love your body.
