About a decade ago, I had just finished dinner at Scott’s Restaurant in London. It was pretty late and there was only one other table left – to my surprise, it was Pele, the great soccer legend! Our eyes met so I decided to go up and introduce myself. He had just watched Apollo 13, and was excited to talk about the fact that it was a true story. Even though we had only known each other through reputation, after a few minutes, he asked me “Brian, would you tell my story?” That conversation started a friendship. I was deeply honored to tell his story in Pele, the birth of a legend. He truly transcended his soccer abilities and talents, and led with something yet greater, he led with his soul. As a poor kid from the favelas, he and his friends called themselves “the shoeless ones” and used grapefruit and stuffed socks as a ball. His rise inspired people that anything is possible. 7 years ago today, not only did you say “I do,” you also surprised me by rapping “It Takes Two” with Rob Base at our wedding because I would tease you and say you couldn’t sing. 7 years later, I know to never tell you what you can’t do because I suspect you’ll prove me wrong!! I love your boldness, your confidence, your kindness, your love for me and for our family. Happy Anniversary baby, love you more every day ♥️🙏🏼
In 1978, Suzanne Somers starred in the first movie that I ever produced, Zuma Beach. Suzanne was the most charming, generous talent to be known. Besides being a mega star in the 70s, Suzanne was one of the most creatively generous and down to earth human beings you could work with. She lit up every room she walked in, and I loved every minute of our 21-day shoot together. Suzanne, you will be deeply, deeply missed by so many ❤️
