Brian Grazer Instagram – About a decade ago, I had just finished dinner at Scott’s Restaurant in London. It was pretty late and there was only one other table left – to my surprise, it was Pele, the great soccer legend! Our eyes met so I decided to go up and introduce myself. He had just watched Apollo 13, and was excited to talk about the fact that it was a true story. Even though we had only known each other through reputation, after a few minutes, he asked me “Brian, would you tell my story?”
That conversation started a friendship. I was deeply honored to tell his story in Pele, the birth of a legend. He truly transcended his soccer abilities and talents, and led with something yet greater, he led with his soul. As a poor kid from the favelas, he and his friends called themselves “the shoeless ones” and used grapefruit and stuffed socks as a ball. His rise inspired people that anything is possible.
