He was raised on the land, and has a lifetime of knowledge of the history, the traditions, and the people of this land. Chris Beeman, Ph. D., is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at Brandon University in Manitoba. He earned his Doctorate of Education from Queen’s University at Kingston and teaches in the area of indigenous epistemologies and ontologies. Alex and Chris have worked together to record this invaluable collection of stories as told by Alex Mathias about his early life growing up on Obabika Lake, within his family territory in the Temagami region.
